START THE NEW YEAR FOR YOURSELF!

START THE NEW YEAR FOR YOURSELF!

Self care and loving yourself is not the same as being selfish. Every so often, especially coming into a New Year, we often feel run down, neglected from giving so much of ourselves and feeling exhausted from the holiday season!

Here are a few tips to start the New Year of self love and selfcare…

1.LOVE YOURSELF

After a big festive season we often feel bloated, big and generally uneasy with our body image. Take a moment to look at yourself in the mirror. Don’t shy away. Look and love – do not criticize, name the things that you love about your body – make this a regular routine and watch how your perception of yourself changes, and it will shine through to others!

2. NO!

We feel pressure all the time to do things that really do not align with how we are feeling at the time. There is nothing wrong with saying No to things that do not serve you. If you feel you need a break from the pressure of attending social events or worrying about “disappointing” or “letting people down”, know it is absolutely fine not do what you may feel expected to do, rather, do something that makes you happy. You will feel a sense of relief instead of  the worry and anxiety of having to meet everyone elses expectations. Your tribe will be your tribe and respect will be built when boundaries are set!

3. Get Active

How many times have we made the resolution in the New Year to join a gym or attend yoga classes and inevitably for whatever reason this does not work out. Find an activity that works for you, a walk around the block or to the shops, doing sun salutations upon waking up. Finding the discipline in doing some activity through out the day will make you feel calmer, more centered and grounded and definitely stronger every day!

4. Eat Healthy

As much as we need time out to observe our outside world. Taking care of our physical body is as important. Choosing to eat healthier meals will benefit not only our body but our mind as well! Not only will we feel amazing, it will do wonders for the immune system, especially when you feel run down.

5. REFLECT, CONTEMPLATE, MEDITATE

Taking 5 minutes at the beginning of your day or at the end of your day to visualise how you would like your day to be, or going through all that worked and did not work throughout the day, and lessons learned is a great way of caring for yourself and your life. Taking the time to connect to be the best version of yourself daily.

When working over what the day has brought you,  release all the things that did not work and did not serve, so you can enter a new day in clarity.

Relax in your favourite chair, take a bubble bath and use your time doing things that make you happy.

Taking time for yourself is so important, for how can you care for others if you do not care for yourself!

Here’s to a prosperous, happy, healthy and blissful 2018!
