Yoga & Functional Movement Training – PERFECT PARTNERS

Yoga & Functional Movement Training – PERFECT PARTNERS

Functional Movement Training and Yoga strong, fearless, flexible & healthy in body and mind!

Why Yoga?

Every yoga posture is designed to strengthen and stretch muscles. In moving slowly and consciously in and out of poses we become aware of what is happening in that moment, and we can focus on which body part to strengthen and where to stretch, letting go of tension. Through yoga we focus on the state of our mind at that present time. Often we find that we are either thinking about an event that has happened in the past, or we are daydreaming about the future. Through breathing techniques, and awareness of body and mind, yoga brings us to the present moment, keeping a constant state of fulfillment in life.

Why Functional Movement Training?

Functional movement training workouts the whole body. It is not only about lifting weights or only doing cardio routines, it is all-round functional training workouts, which makes a person strong, efficient and fit.

Functional movement training also has a way of preparing us mentally for challenges, facing fears and surpassing limitations. (For example; when we do our first box jump, handstand or muscle up). Functional movement training encourages us to push boundaries getting through one more repetition than we thought possible.

The motivation in functional movement training keeps one inspired to learn more of what their body is capable of doing.

Why do they go well together?

Functional Movement Training – functional training of the body

Yoga – functional training of the mind

They are a beautiful combination of bringing awareness to our body and mind. Both empower us to constantly become better versions of ourselves. Working with strength, mobility and flexibility, functional movement training and yoga bring efficiency and confidence to life. Yoga and functional movement training encourage healthy lifestyle choices as we get to live yoga off the mat and training outside the gym.

A practice of yoga and functional movement training compliment each other in their differences as well. Functional movement training raises our heart rate and can be an intense workout. Yoga is not considered as a substitute for an exercize routine, and it is practiced at a much slower rate, relaxing our central nervous system bringing the body in balance. As our bodies produce lactic acid, especially after a heavy exercise routine, yoga postures help decrease lactic acid in muscles and alleviate joint pain.

Yoga and functional movement training are for anyone and everyone, no matter of age, body type and gender -workouts and yoga poses can be scaled and modified to the levels of one’s experience or level of ability.

Through both yoga and joining a gym, such as Fitworx (Bulawayo), wonderful bonds are formed, where strangers become friends and friends become family, forming a community of well-being and caring.

Should you wish to give either a go come down to Fitworx, Bulawayo and experience our community.
